We were working on a big project spanning across multiple teams and multiple locations. Work orders, project assets, and field tech time was all tracked using multiple systems and tools - including paper and spreadsheets. Using all of these different tools made it nearly impossible to track work orders, field tech time, let alone whether or not we were staying on track with our budget.

We started researching field service applications and soon realized the tools available didn’t meet our needs for a number of reasons: they were too expensive; they didn’t offer the features we needed, so we would still be stuck using multiple tools; or, they had a really steep learning curve. The only other option remaining - build our own.

At the onset of this effort, we heard from others who had similar issues. They were searching for a better solution to help grow their business and to solve problems. Based on what we learned, we established four core principles that have helped shape FieldXL:

• Accessibility - Work anytime, anywhere from any type of device - mobile, tablet, and desktop.
